  • Welcome to the ceramic world of Mingyu Du.

Mingyu Du is a local potter based in Northestowe, Cambridge, where she balances her creative practice with life as a wife and mother. Her work is rooted in the belief that functional art can bring quiet beauty and meaning to everyday life. A theme central to our ethos here @iris.home.lifestyle too.

Her fascination with ceramics began with mesmerising hours spent andmiring ancient vases at the British Museum and by the legendary work of Lucie Rie and other contemporary Japanese ceramicists. These early inspirations sparked a dream: to create pieces that bring serenity to daily life.

Mingyu-du’s Cambridge studio really is a tranquil space, once a garage it is now converted beautifully to overlook her Zen-inspired courtyard garden - peace is at the heart of her practice.

Using stoneware and her own glazes, each hand-thrown and hand-built piece is crafted with care and intention, embodying a minimalist elegance that seeks to nourish both body and soul.

For Mingyu, ceramics are a source of joy and calm and she hopes these pieces share that sense of peace and happiness with others.

We feel very grateful and so happy to be collaborating with Mingyu, so do enjoy them as much as we do.
